On the subject of life and death

I've been thinking lately about death. I've grown into a state of depression over the subject.

Before we were born into life, we did not have a concept of time because we did not have brains to acknowledge time. There wasn't complete darkness or anything. As we grow older and develope our brains have now understood this and it's own consciousness.

Is this what it will be like after death?
No complete darkness, no heaven, no hell, no reincarnation, nothing.
We will die and our brains will stop working and that will be the end of it.

It's an incredibly scary thought, but fear is just a primitive emotion in response to a human's environment to flee a situation for survival.

I just see no reason for going on.
Do I get a high paying job, so I can be happy? But happyness itself is just another emotion. When a human's environment and surroundings are suitable they take joy in these things and have a desire to keep them, much like loved ones.

So my sole purpose in life is to just pass on my genetic material to the next generation to form a more perfect species. I will die and there will be no concept of time. Life just seems so incredibly pointless and I have no desire to continue it.

People go mad over thinking about these things, which is why most people have to just find something to believe in, and leave it at that.
In other words they give up or get angry at the world/life because there ARE no answers to the bigger questions, right? People give up and believe in something because it's easier than digging deeper or finding the real truth of a matter. Taking the easy route is rarely the correct one. That's one thing you learn in life.

It's like a magic trick [....] But when you know how it all works.. the magic dies, doesn't it? Christmas [...] it's never quite like it was when you were little, and there was real magic in the world.
So you're saying being childish is the way to be? Sure, to enjoy life like that makes perfect sense, but not to impose those ideas on other people--which is what religion does. It's forceful. They kill people for their beliefs in what cannot be proven. Therefore we can't settle for ignorance being bliss in this world. Religion is often chosen ignorance--the ceasing of studying to find the truth. The key to happiness is not to ignore the truth of a matter and pretend it's alright. Look at how the world is now. The apathetic are bored with life, and the religious fight over everything.

We're not lucky or sane/rational enough to live peacefully. So to blindly believe or blindly ignore something does not lead to happiness in this day and age.

Furthermore, if life becomes all about just enjoying it, people then become selfish.

In short, people have no idea how to live simply and happily, they always complicate it and make life miserable for everyone else. So we don't have the luxury to be simple minded and ignorant these days.

As an example, gays may one day be completely normal to everyone, but for now the way you were born puts a damn marker on your forehead that condemns you to poor treatment. Being born a woman means many people will treat you like shit and you'll have even more pressure to do things that will hurt you or others. They never let people simply be what they are.

If you analyze things too much, you lose the magic and beauty of it all. Instead of looking at things philosophically, or scientifically, I recommend just taking things for what they are.
I've come to an understanding about emotions, love and all the things people say are a "mystery" and they haven't lost any effect. I'm serious. But what I'm trying to say is that keeping them a mystery is what makes people act irrational and hate one another, like I said about religion, gays and women.

Don't try to figure out what makes a sunset beautiful, just enjoy it while you can.
For some things in life, like this, I agree. There isn't anything else needed but to enjoy what life and nature offers to you. It's purely the ideas that people have created that have caused all the problems in the world.
