I've seen alot of pictures that feature accidents happening, like someone falling off a cliff, and then there's a picture of a kid holding a guitar in the corner, whom I'm assuming is "Disaster Kid".

No, it's some little kid and it looks like he's wailing on a guitar. It was originally some christmas family photo, posted on /b/. People thought it was funny and they shopped him into other pics. It originally wasn't exclusively about "disasters", but I guess ytmnd or something got ahold of it and gave him that lame name.
