According to a bunch of dictionaries it is oh-wry with a short oh and a long wry sound. I have always pronounced it awww-ri with a long awww and then ri rhyming with the letter e.
Arrrgh just hearing it being pronounced oh-wryyyyyyyy just gets on my nerves. It has turned my view of the english language upside down. I hate English.

it's uh-RYE (ryhmes with apply) and the Merriam-Webster has only that. Where do you get oh- or aw-? It's not either of those. The initial sound is the unstressed vowel they call the schwa, or if you carefully pronounce the word it would be the short u as in cup.

Good. Someone should make a map on the pronounciation of this and then I can avoid those places that pronounce it uh-rye.

I just wrote the schwa as oh. awww sounds like the a in ball and it is how it should be pronounced with the aw stressed and wry unstressed.
Shit, I've never heard it said, and I have this stupid habit of looking at words I don't know for the first time and immediately coming up with some dumbass mispronunciation of it in my head, which no matter how many times I tell myself it's not that, try to find out what it is, or even keep telling myself the correct way after finding it, I still end up reading that word in my head with the first dumbass mistake I made of it, before using the correct one.
The retarded word I got for this one, was: A-rye. Short a like in the word cat, and rye rhyming with eye. Lol.
