Is it possible to make an animated GIF with a transparent background? I know it's possible for PNGs, but every time I try to do that with an animated GIF, the part I want to have transparent shows up white...

You're not just viewing it on a white background are you? Just kidding. Any program that can make animated GIFs can add transparency, and of course every program does it differently. I just use the free crap (Microsoft GIF Animator) and select the color I want. I usually make it bright green so I can't pick a color close to it by accident.
Incidentally, how does one make PNGs transparent? No program I've got has an option for it, or one that works, and IE almost always ignores the transparency anyways.
