Is it possible to be a pedophile at the age of fifteen?

I think the term "pedophilia" sucks because the manner in which society uses the word, which literally means "love of children", assumes all love of children is sexual. Thus, usage of the word in its current sense is a slight to parents and grandparents everywhere, schoolteachers, nannies, au-pairs, and others who cherish children as CHILDREN, not as little adults. Why not a different term - "pedofag", combining "pedo" for child with the traditionally anti-gay slur "fag" - to refer to the perverts who have illegitimate desires on kids?
