Drop the Christ.
In my long, atheistic life, I have seen hard evidence that there are God-believers, Christians even, who are not dogmatic fuckwits that preach fire and brimstone. Many of these people (you, perhaps?) do not believe that the entire world is going to burn in a pit of hell and damnation and unpleasantry, but simply think that there must be a maker behind it all, and that there must be an afterlife, because existence would be quite boring otherwise.
So again, I implore thee: drop the Christ.
Whether you like it or not, the word "Christian" has racked up the association over the years of being connected to persecution, racism, genocide, sadism, greed, and xenophobia. If you fit the description contained in the longish paragraph above, then I imagine you do not like being lumped in with the likes of Jack Chick. So please, make the most noble choice of your entire life: convert. Stop calling yourself a Christian. Convince all your friends to stop calling themselves Christians. DO NOT start a new faith, DO NOT think up a new name for yourselves. Simply be. Believe in God if you wish to, and by all means teach the seven virtues to your children and nieces and nephews, and discourage the seven deadly sins. But please, for the good of the present and the future, abandon he who died for your sins. He was a good chap, yes, and I'm sure he meant well, but all he's doing now is mucking things up, and the fact of the matter is that the sooner we discard him as rubbish and keep him in the history books where he belongs, and out of the present tense, the sooner the world can become a less antagonistic place.
