I don't get the hype for the Wii...

Nintendo is basically trying to sell you a another gamecube with a gimmicky controller for 300 bucks, and some people are excited as hell?

I'm not trying to rain on the parade, but what are nintendo fans really excited about? Is it the controller function? The virtual console to play old games? Or just new nintendo games that could really be made on Gamecube with not much loss in quality.

Why doesn't nintardo just give up already? No one wants their shitty consoles.

I think you answered your own question. Gimmicks are cool and everbody (who has nothing better to do) goes nuts about it. Nobody actually sits there and thinks about these things. They just see the word "NEW!" and drool over it.

I mean, look at impulse buying. People were willing to pay 800 bucks US to get their hands on an XBAUX 360 when they could just wait a few days and pay 1/3 that much. Or how people will line up outside a movie theatre and sleep there for days just so they can see it first, whereas I walk in later without any lineups.
