Going to the US - Where to buy stuff?

Hiya.

I'm going on a class trip to the US for 5 weeks in October, and I want to buy some anime DVD's, fantasy books... In general I wanna visit the "nerd shops" that specialize in stuff like that :)

The problem is that I don't know where to look for them. I'm going to visit Denver, Kalispell, San Fransisco, Los Angeles / Hollywood, Las Vegas and Santa Fe... That's a few of the places I'm visiting anyway. So I'm wondering if any of you fellow anonymouses has some tips as to where I might find that kind of stores? If they have a website or road descriptions or anything like that, it would be a major plus.
