What the hell is the point of a ban? I proxied right past it. *sighs* I was afraid it would be that easy to get around. What is the point of a ban when it cannot really be enforced?

lol, I apealed it and my ban was extended 8 days. It isn't a big deal I can proxy this site and I am on a university campus. So I just use another pc. I have never been banned before. I think I pissed the mod off also :P. Anyway, I don't quite know why they bother banning people.
This is my first ip ban ever and I figured out the proxy stuff in less then five minutes. So I still wonder, what is the point? Is it only for stupid people? I honestly do not get the reason they keep the pretense that they have any power. I like this site and all but I am just saying I was underwhelmed when I saw how easy it was.
Any moderators viewing this? What is the point of a ban?
