Economist tallies swelling cost of Israel to US

Since 1973, Israel has cost the United States about $1.6 trillion. If divided by today's population, that is more than $5,700 per person.

This is an estimate by Thomas Stauffer, a consulting economist in Washington. For decades, his analyses of the Middle East scene have made him a frequent thorn in the side of the Israel lobby.
I am sure that also makes him a hateful anti-Semetic.

Note: This is an old article I got in e-mail. But with the current war for Israel in Iraq and more coming you can imagine how much this tally has grown.

I don't understand why we would give them ANY money? I understand our own jews being the ones forcing us to, but I still don't know the reason. Isn't Israel considered a 1st world nation? If that's so they should have their own money.
