... But it didn't. The anonymous posting system simply doesn't work. The reason behind this is that everybody can post what the fuck they want - whenever the fuck they want to. This results in 99,5 % of all posts being completely useless, and nobody wants to read them.

Problems with 2ch-type forums often come along the lines of "people will be more likely to insult, flame, and troll if they're anonymous". This may be true... but people are already pseudonymous on most forums. The drama and hatred you see on pseudonymous forums is as bad as it gets; with anonymity, you'll probably be better off. If you can't force people to pay or use their real names, spring for a totally anonymous forum.

The fact is that while you might get flame responses in an anonymous environment, the flames rarely elevate to the status of flame wars between two or three people that I see constantly on other boards. It becomes a power struggle, a grudge match, and often winds up with half the board ganging up on one or two people who happened to post something stupid.

This way it doesn't matter. If you posted something stupid, then nobody knows it was specifically you who said it. You can just sort of walk away, whistling, hands in your pockets. Ho hum, nothing to see here, not involved. And then you can continue to post elsewhere without someone saying "Yeah, but you're the stupid moron who said ..." etcetera.

Just an example, but you get the gist of it.

exactly. On an anonymous forum, if you can't tell who posts what, logic will overrule vanity. If there is a user ID attached to a user, a discussion tends to become a criticizing game between the different IDs.
