is it wrong to leave someone

so this question has been in my head lately. is it wrong to leave someone for someone better? let's say a man leaves his woman of 5 years or something because he fell in love with someone more interesting/beautiful/funny/smart.

from what i've seen and read people tend to consider that asshole-ish. but at the same time people also espouse the greatness of true love..  is breaking up an established relationship justified in the the name of love?

if you continue a relationship just because you feel pity for your gf it won't work. it'll never be fulfilling for both of you.

Yeah, staying with someone just because you pity her isn't going to help, just make things wrong.
But if you love your current girl and the relationship works, then it's tupid to leave a 5 year relationship behind for someone you don't know well.
So simply leaving someone because of just curiosity is dumb, but leaving someone because you don't love her anymore and/or you love somebody else is wise.

is it assholeish?  sure.  but so is trying to have a relationship with a woman for five years without giving them the security of marriage, but still expecting all the benefits thereof.

you can leave her for another women if you want there is no one stopping you, and no law saying you cant.

and if you fail, remember you are just a 4channer like us who arnt supposed to have girlfriends in the first place.
