Dear Dr. Anonymous:
All I want is a good, stable relationship with someone who has the same interests as me. I've fallen in love twice with such people, but neither of them returned my feelings. The problem is that unlike the standard otaku I am pretty good looking and sociable, so there are quite often "normal" girls falling for me. I am very bad at turning people down. I try to emphasize my otaku-ness in an attempt to turn "normal" girls off, but sometimes it works against me and they think it's "cute" or "underground." I mean, I enjoy getting lots of sex, but I am worried about hurting my partners because, while I think most of them are good people and I'd be happy to have them as friends, I never really fall in love with them, and thus I always feel like there's someone better, and that I will inevitably end up cheating. We usually end up drifting apart after one or two dates. I try to explain this problem to people when they take an interest in me, but like I said I am really bad at turning people down, plus I like to have sex. At the same time, I feel like being "popular" with girls undermines my chances at finding a girlfriend within the subculture, which is what I really want.
