best friends sister... would you?

The forbidden love i suppose. This isn't just about sex, this is about love and a meaningful relationship.

If you've had a really good friend for about 5 years or so, and he had a sister who you adored and could see yourself with, you knew she liked you and could potentially become something long lasting. would you take the chance of disrespecting and losing him as a friend, but having a relationship with someone you could truly love?

i'd like to know pros and cons to this. my brain fools me when i'm falling for someone. I don't want to make the wrong decision. Any advice would help me.

Absolutely.  I wouldn't risk the friendship for sex alone; only a real relationship would be worth it.  I mean, damn, if you love her, he as your best friend shouldn't stand in the way.

If he's the protective kind, it'll be a hard sell, but in the end he'd probably be happier "giving her off" to somebody he trusts and respects.  If anything, you'd ultimately be more like family.  Even if things go bad between you and her in the long run, the brother would probably help prevent things from getting too messy in a breakup, acting as an intermediary.
 
Now, if he hates her instead, that could be a problem.  Then you may not want to risk it.  A good friend will probably stick by your side through almost anything.  It takes a lot to destroy a good friendship.  A relationship, no matter how good it starts out, can go bad easily.  In fact, most do, even if it's not too messy.  You'd be risking a friendship at a chance of a relationship.  If he's friendly to his sister and things go bad, he'll understand (probably) even if things don't work out.  But if he hates her, you'd likely end up losing them both.
