How hard is it to learn Japanese? I'm in my late 20's and I'm reasonably smart. If I committed an hour or two per day to learning weeaboo-speak and moonrunes via a program or instructional guide/video, how long am I looking at until I start to understand/get the gist of a decent amount of sentences?

I've delved a little bit and I know some basics and some hiragana, but I'm nowhere near even broken Japanese.

Can anyone with some experience in this provide some insight please?

We already have a Japanese thread (texts boards do not work quite like image boards).

It depends entirely on you. If you read Japanese for a few hours every day, eventually you will achieve speed and understanding. If you just read a few random grammar things and do anki for 30 minutes a day, you'll never get anywhere. It's just like any other skill.

Don't change these.
