Is there much truth when someone says 'you can never really learn X language properly, unless you were born in the country and grew up with it' ?
I've been learning Lithuanian on and off for the past two years, but I live there too. I would assume I am around a B2 level, however as much as I can understand (written and spoken), I have immense difficulty in speaking. You could say I need more practise but somehow I feel because of the clusterfuck of grammar rules I can't get myself to a level where I speak fluently and without errors.
I also feel that if I had invested the same amount of time learning Norwegian, French, Spanish or such a language, I would be at a much more advanced level of communication than I am with Lithuanian currently.
