List of words

Name: Anonymous 2012-08-16 19:08

I have been watching movies, reading books, etc. in English, always writing words unknown to me down.

My interest in English is a formal one, any informal words' use is of no interest for me, at least as of now.

Could someone, if it isn't too much of a hassle, skim trough my list and check if I am not using any word in its informal meaning?

I will try to keep this thread updated, as my list continues growing by new unknown words and shrinking by once unknown words that I learn the meaning after studying.

Thank you!

Looks fine to me. The only thing I would point out is that "lest [condition]" is usually used negatively (i.e., you don't want [condition] to happen).

Thank you for the input! Will fix that.
I am just waiting to have a big list, so I can decorate it all and start a new one.

There is an extremely little distinction between formal and informal language in (modern) English.

Not related to the list, but "writing down words unknown to me" would be a bit better than "writing words unknown to me down."
