Learning a new language.

Alright so, other than having a human teacher, what's the best alternative to learning a language?

I'm not looking for anything about a specific language, just gathering data about learning languages.

Reading novels that you've already read in English. Harry Potter is amazing for this if you've read it. Novels in particular are easier than other types of book because they have a lot of dialogue.

one thing that really helped me learn french was to read Le Monde every single day and to listen to french music all the time, but not just listen, get the lyrics, study them and learn the songs.  Right now I'm starting to learn Portuguese and doing the same is helping me a lot.  It's not really an alternative but a great supplement.

Translate songs, watch tv shows/movies/tv series in that language...
It's quite easy for some languages as Spanish cause we dub almost everything xD

Maybe buy some books. TV/movie/games have too many slangs and gramma abuse

Don't change these.
