I saw another thread, but it seemed like a joke of some sort.

so i want to teach myself mandarin. i've already taken a course in it, so i have a foundation on how to pronounce things, how grammar works. i could survive in china...maybe. though, i cant have a conversation.

might any of you know some good textbooks?? japanese learners have genki, is there a mandarin equivalent?

Cheung and Tsui, integrated chinese is what a lot of people use for a general textbook.
Also, I don't know of any hanzi programs, but I'd just switch around till you find one that works and is free/low cost.
Godspeed op.
