Specifics of AJATT

I've been trying to plan out how I'm going to try and learn, but I'd like some advice on a few concepts that are giving me difficulty. AJATT (http://www.alljapaneseallthetime.com/blog/about/overview-page) says that I should, in addition to constant japanese listening/watching, I should "Learn at least 2046 general use kanji in English." Based on some other advice, it seems like kanjidamage is going to be the least painful way to do this. My first question is, what does "learn" mean? For example, if I were working on the kanji for "three," I'd be on this page of kanjidamage http://kanjidamage.com/japanese_symbols/3 Obviously I should write down the character a few dozen times and learn the little mnemonic sentence, which means I should learn the onyomi too since it's built into the mnemonics. However, does ajatt dictate that I learn the kunyomi too? If it's the stand alone pronunciation I'd think that it would be pretty critical eventually, but kanjidamage has all of the kunyomi in kana, which ajatt says to learn after learning the kanji. Is it even a good idea to learn the kunyomi? Will that just slow me down? I'm not sure. Essentially, which elements of the kanjidamage entries should I be learning? If the kunyomi is advisable, I'll go ahead and spend some time on kana first, but if ajatt says don't bother, then should I just ignore it and learn only the character, mnemonic, and onyomi? Thanks for your time, A monolingual dunce.

I HIGHLY recommend you use Remember The Kanji over kanjidamage.

It's set up so you can go to the Kanji, and use it for immediate practice. Learn Japanese on paper, including grammar, then move on to speech.

Ignore this man. Kanjidamage is a less convoluted Heisig.

All the info you see on a kanjidamage page? Learn it. onyomi, kunyomi, those example compounds. The mnemonic is to help you remember the information. The information you need is all there.

I thought the concept was good, but he said you'd have to get rid of everything non-japanese, like music, movies, books etc. He even took his notes in school in Japanese and I don't see how a beginner could do that.

Still, the dude managed to learn that shit, so good for him.

Don't change these.
