Hey. This is my first thread ever on /jp/, so please be nice! My 'problem' is following: Love Japan for like 5 years already (also, nope, not just because of Animes). Well, recently I just got in FB contact with a japanese girl (and it was not even intended to make contact, it was by accident) and I'm really stunned by her charming type. She likes the same football team as I do and all that stuff, now there is one fucking problem; She can't speak english for fuck. Seriously, I'm from Germany and my education is not the best, but my english is pretty good, so I'd guess you have to blame japanese schools. She doesn't understand a word I am saying I think, just easy words are understandable for her. Thats why she doesn't reply that often (Still assuming, she probably just doesn't like me). She doesn't even get that I'm actually interested in her, which is very sad. Anyway, I want to learn japanese in the fastest way possible, I've got all the books to learn and the audio for it already from my bro (he brings it in a few days at least). I just want to have a conversation with her so that she actually understands what I am saying, if that means I have to wait 1 or 2 years til I can speak (or write) it a little bit I'm okay. I'm really motivated and as school is fucking easy for me atm (11. grade, probably next 2 years just normal school) I have loads of time.
Question - how long does it take (and how much time did you need) to do that kind of stuff?

Ah yeah, surely there will be some guys who tell me I'm not going to do it because I'm just learning it because of her: Nah. I always wanted to learn it, though nothing got me starting. Now I really feel like I want it, its a passion. And nope, I don't think I have any chances at that girl, but learning a language is in no case bad.

Also, I would be thankful for every tip about learning japanese, especially how to start.

Since I first asked /jp/ and godamn I didn't even know this board, I just copypasted.

I need a buddy who can help me out with my German.

If I'm writing the prices out for an item, how would I write it down if I was spelling the numbers?

For example;

That sweatshirt costs 5.20 Euro.

Das sweatshirt kostet funf zwanzig Euro.

Is this correct?

More like "fünf komma zwanzig Euro" or "fünf Euro zwanzig Cent" or somesuch. "Fünf zwanzig" sounds too much like "fünfunzwanzig" (25).

(not German myself)

Dude. It's not a fast process. Japanese especially takes time with the horrible system that is kana and kanji. Start now and don't stop and you'll get where you want. Find a good pace for YOU.

Use these to start.

Don't change these.
