Learning Japanese

Name: King English 2011-08-03 9:27

Hello /lang
I'm planning to learn reading japanese, cause I want to understand these visual novels.
I'm planning to do

Hiraganas/Katakana -} Grammar -} Kanjis
Is that how I should go? And how long will that take, before I can read good japanese? I can practice 1-2 hours each day.

Potentially, depending on how stupid you are and how fast/well you learn, you could be looking at 3 to 5 years before you could grasp material necessary to ace JLPT 3 or begin to probe JLPT 2.

僕は日本人です。必要なら協力できるよ。
日本語は漢字を覚えるのが難しいと思う。
高校生になっても漢字を勉強する必要があるし、
それでも読めない漢字はたくさんあるからね。

Ehh? I don't think it'd take 3-5 years, but depending on how hard he studies and/or how well he retains the language, times will vary a lot.

Just keep up with it and study every day and you'll be fine.

I guess if all you want to do is play VNs, you probably won't have to put in as much as 5 years but I'd hope the OP would be intelligent enough to go beyond video games in his acquisition.

How about you stop asking questions and just start learning?
The only wrong way to learn is not to.
