Just a thread to shoot the shit about a fucking fun language.
I really was surprised at how drastically studying Classical improved my comprehension and appreciation of modern Mandarin.
Anybody notice that there's a Classical Chinese Wikipedia?

Yes, I was surprised when I found out there was a Classical Chinese wikipedia.
Learning Classical Chinese kinda pisses me off, though. I mean the lessons are fun in trying to keep with the tempo and translating everything so vastly different from modern Mandarin, but it's a pain in the ass.

Also, while browsing the 中文 wikipedia, it was funny to see how in the same sentence, there'd be simp. and trad. chars, because of cross-strait people editing.

I've always found it pretty easy to tell apart some of the traditional characters from the modern ones.

Necro'ing thread. I loved studying classical Chinese and even wrote my thesis on Confucianism, which included about a hundred original translations of the Analects. Classical Chinese has improved my regular Chinese reading ability by leaps and bounds.
Anybody else get to read philosophical stuff? Mencius and Zhuangzi were my favorite, especially Zhuangzi. He basically trolled the shit out of ancient China.
