Do you mean "empano" or "empaño", with an <ñ>?

The first one would be from "empanar", meaning "to coat in breadcrumbs" (in order to fry it on a pan or heat it in the oven). It comes from em + pan ('bread') + ar.

The second one would be "to mist up", like when you breathe on a glass so the water in your breath makes the glass looks misted up.

But I think OP meant "empaño" because it wouldnt make sense otherwise
