Just checking because the average americunt doesn't seem to know what the world's like outside their state. I would suggest using Pimsleur to get you started, then smart.fm for vocab, wikipedia/others sites for grammar, then there's tons of french literature you can read.

If you start learning French, you'll end up not understanding in Quebec. Why? Because Quebec French has a lot of difference with France French, grammar and vocabulary.
Just an example:
Mes gosses in France, would mean my kids, in Quebec, my balls.
Also, to obtain citizenship in Canada, you don't need French, all you have to do is be able to speak ONE of the official language and be there for 3 years I think before applying.
