Typing accented letters

So usually, i can just type " 'a " for "a" with an accent, same for all the other accented letters. But sometime, Firefox just stops doing it. Anybody know how fix?

What type of accent do you want?

1. Change keyboard to "English-International"
2. Type things like "áß©í²³¤€¼½¾‘’¬öóí" by holding alt+ another key
3. ???
4. PROFIT

I just use the Alt+#### keystrokes. I have the ones I most frequently used memorized.

Still, I've been meaning to make a custom keyboard layout so I can type more easily (and type characters outside of Windows-1252 code page).

This is why mac is better
