Kanji for "apple"

Name: Anonymous 2010-04-18 20:33

I'm doing a mock manga comic panel and wanting to have someone getting excited about an apple. I want "apple" repeated all over the picture.

I've researched the kanji for apple and found two versions 林檎 and 檎. Apparently 林 means trees so since it's just one apple with no tree does that mean I should go for the version without it?

Getting confused, any help would be great! Thanks

檎だけでは、りんごの意味はありません。りんごは漢字では、林檎です。ただし、この字は古い中国語で、日本人にとっても分かりづらいので、ひらがなで書くことが多いです。

in case you really need one character, i put much effort and found an old chinese name for it of 1 character - 柰
it's about same as old as 林檎
however don't expect common japs to understand it

tl;dr write 林檎

Don't change these.
