Happened to come across this Japanese word today: 洋炉.
I've looked through various dictionaries (wwwjdic and Yahoo辞書 to be exact), but haven't found out what it means.

Does anyone know what it means?

Yeah I had the same idea. I was looking through some weird winny/share downloads today and happened across 洋炉 and 亜炉 numerous times (with 洋炉 much more frequent). So the　洋 part meaning western is most likely correct. Not so sure about the hearth/fireplace thing though.
