Making a chinese name

Name: Anonymous 2009-12-15 20:37

Sup, language bitches.

I'm thinking about a chinese name, and would like opinions. The name that I'm considering, 明狼, has some potential difficulties in that wolves are not well-admired in China. I, however, do admire them very much. Problem?

I mean, it has "ming" in front of it, cheering it up a bit, right? And there is a popular book called "Wolf Totem" encouraging Chinese toward greater wolf-appreciation. What say you all?

Also, this thread can be for general observations about Westerners and their Chinese name choices.

The name I would adopt if I go to China is 电海 (電海). Electric seas, huh?

吉思, the Chinese language lacks to many sounds to properly form my name...

Do they really matter? China got a shitton of different dialects with all-different pronunciations, so don't expect your name to sound nearly as close in, say, Guangdong as you were intending it to sound in Beijing.

Can I call you "jizzy" for short? Your boyfriend probably does.
