The element Al was originally called Alumium, then it was changed for no fucking reason to Aluminum. Americans stuck with this. Then it was changed to Aluminium because that sticks with the -ium trend of chemical elements. The rest of the world stuck with this.
Tube should be pronounced like "tyube". You should hear a t and a y (as in yes).
The reason certain American accents sound stupid to me is that they intonate normal sentences as if they were questions, making it seem as if they are constantly making sure they're not retarded.
