Learning Latin

No, that's not one of those faggot threads

For now I want to learn Latin to be able to speak it (with another people) rather than read centuries old literature that probably nobody cares about. Is there a way to?

I heard there's a movement called "Living Latin" or something, but I couldn't find much on it.

Not the movement you were looking for, but it's the only Latin lit you'll find that's modern, unless you want to go to the vatican.

They are retards, and if you're learning for that purpose you too kinda are. It's good for reading ancient shit and will make learning romance languages later on a breeze.

But, you know, that's pretty badass to hang out somewhere and chat fluently in Latin like it's your first language. Ain't that something!

More like embarrassing with your American accent (see http://dis.4chan.org/read/lang/1246940150/)

Implying that having an American accent is wrong.
Double standard much?

Double standard much?

It would be if I were American.

One does not learn a dead language in order to be able to talk with people.

Is this a troll thread or what?

Sigh... maybe if you were American you'd have better reading comprehension. The double standard is that you idiots can speak with whatever incomprehensible accent you want, but when an American sounds even slightly foreign, it's the end of the world.

Why not? They were living languages at one point, too, used by real life people in real life situations. What's wrong with wanting to speak them? Plus, dead languages have been brought back to life before: Hebrew, for example.
