does anyone know of any other good <b>free</b> sites to learn of?
or any decent textbooks? good text books on any language are a rarity though

any help would be great

I advise finding someone to learn with, it's much much quicker, and helps with the pronunciation and fluency part.

Sites for learning:
http://magyarora.com/ (quite a lot of lessons)
http://www.hungarotips.com/hungarian/ (puzzles, that sort of stuff)
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Hungarian/ (free book, quite shitshort)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hungarian_grammar (surprisingly useful)

Translators:
http://www.webforditas.hu/ (Quite awesome, also includes a dictionary, spell checker, and sentence parser)

Reference sites:
http://szotar.mokk.bme.hu/hunglish/search/corpus (search through existing translations, very useful)

Dictionaries that include Hungarian words:
http://dict.sztaki.hu/
http://almos.vein.hu/~vonyoa/AINDEX.HTM and http://www.cab.u-szeged.hu/cgi-bin/szotar
http://dictionary.com/
http://en.wiktionary.org/

You can also get Hungarian keyboard stickers for the Hungarian keys if you decide to add an extra keyboard layout. It's not really hard to remember, though.
