flashcards

i'd never used flashcards before, i'd always just thought it was a waste of time and that 'i didn't learn that way', but on friday i gave it a shot anyway. wrote just about twenty cards in german, a mix of sorts.
some with just the noun, and the gender on the other side.
some with an adjective and the english on the other side.
some with an irregular verb, and its various forms on the other side.
etc

and fucking hell, it worked so well. i did more, and have managed to memorise about 100 new words in two days. does anybody else use flashcards? any suggestions for different ways to do them?

German, you say?
Ich habe eine Zeit lang mit solchen Kärtchen gelernt. Es ist tatsächlich recht effektiv, wenn man es regelmäßig macht, aber ich habe einfach nicht die nötige Disziplin dazu.
Vielleicht werde ich aber wieder damit anfangen, dann mit japanischen Schriftzeichen. Falls ich mich entscheide, mir so ein JLPT-Zertifikat zuzulegen, wird es wohl auf jeden Fall notwendig sein. Ich wollte mir dafür dann ein Programm schreiben, das zufällig einen Aspekt eines Kanjis anzeigt und mich dann den Rest ergänzen lässt (z.B. wenn die Bedeutung angezeigt wird, muss ich Zeichen, Strichfolge und Lesung erraten).

zuerst entschuldige ich mich fuer mein schlechtes deutsch - man kann Worte kennen, aber wenn er nicht genug Uebung bekommt, in der Sprache zu sprechen, machen die Worte nichts.

gewoehnlich haette ich auch allerdings nicht die noetige Diszuplin dazu, aber meine Arbeit ist so langweilig, dass ich viele "Freizeit" habe. also, es ist mir leicht.

Ja, ich bin Deutscher, und so gelernt habe ich damals für Englisch und Spanisch.
Du schreibst übrigens gut verständlich, machst eben nur die üblichen Flüchtigkeitsfehler, die mit etwas mehr Übung verschwinden würden.
Schade, dass Krautchan so voller Schwuchteln ist. Bei mir war es zu meiner Zeit 4chan, was mich von "Ich kann Englisch gut verstehen" zu "Ich kann es perfekt sprechen" gebracht hat.

I've just went out and bought some flash cards to brush up on my high school German (terrible) and possibly try and educate myself further. I've heard that different color cards for the genders work well, but I feel that it'd be easy to simply forget about memorizing genders and acknowledge the color without ever actually putting them to the word. 

100 words in two days sounds like a pretty nice pace to do them at, so there's no real reason to change it if its working

When I make an index card with a noun on it I put the article in front of the German word.

[side 1] (die) Straße
[side 2] Road

Its also good to add the type of plural used, shit sucks.
