Not really. You're thinking Rosetta Stone. Pimsleur is quite good.

No, it is. Overpriced crap which teaches only a few words. A student would be better off with a good textbook accompanied by a CD or two.

calling something overpriced while it is offered to you for free is just silly

i have been using this set, as well as painstakingly working through teach yourself: german grammar, and i've noticed a huge improvement. (still suck though)
