English phonetic scripts

Would phonetic scripts such as the Shavian or Deseret alphabets (check Wikipedia) be any good for English? I see them as good replacements for the current alphabet, but the actual change could be hugely impractical.

On the other hand, Shavian has a letter named loll, which is almost like lol, so I say we switch right now. What say you?

I started using Alphabet 26 for a while, a few months ago. Just to be cute. Perhaps I should take that up again.

Anyway, I guess it'd be cool to change to the Shavian alphabet (hypothetically, of course). It would also be interesting to just switch to IPA characters...You'd be able to hear the writing, in a sense. "Correct" spellings would dwindle. I wonder how that would turn out.

English written with Finnish alphabetical values. Believe it or not, this would actually reflect true English pronunciation better than the current system.

Use IPA, not these mud-based alphabets.

Spoilers: They're not mud.

But srsly, as much as I like IPA, I don't think it'd work, since it's so complicated to the average speaker.

I think the diphtong characters used in Shavian would work quite well, actually.

Don't change these.
