Total number of Spanish speakers: 400 million.
Total number of Japanese speakers: 130 million (this does NOT includes you, no matter how many times you've watched each Naruto episode in an attempt to pick up new words).
So you see, you're waseting your time. It is completely useless! But I know what you are thinking now, you're thinking "That's not true! Once my Japanese is 'kawaii' enough I'll move to Japan and become an English teacher/anime translator/<insert other job>. Alright, I'll reply to your other statements. Do you try to be the nationality of every language you may have decided to learn? What's that? No? I thought not. "Mastered"? No, not yet. I'll be honest with that. I'm about intermediate with German so far, but I haven't been learning it for a massive amount of time. Anything else I haven't covered?

Actully, I started learning awhile back so that I could read the Vampire Hunter D novels (Obviously, this was before they began translating them in to English, at which point I figured I would just continue with my studies as I'd already went so far).
Also, I figured it would look good on my resume, people seemed impressed if you know a language with 'funny letters'.

I lol'd. No employer is interested in Japanese, Spanish is a much better language to learn looking at job opportunities. Especially if you look at the rising economy in South-America. A poor payed job as an English teacher is the best you can hope for. On the other hand you don't even need to know Japanese for that and thousands of those teachers lost their jobs recently. If you really want to make money, get a tech job, because that are the jobs that are in high demand all over the world. You don't need any brains to learn a language, and 'studying business' just fails. Anyone can do that and not it's not suprising a  lot of people actually do.

I used to take classes and yeah, people are generally more interested in memorizing vocabulary which make them look cool, rather than trying to master basic grammar so that they don't look stupid when they speak.

This usually account for a large percentage of the class, which implies that generally people learn Japanese to impress non-japanese-speaking people, rather than finding an actual use for it.

Learn Spanish if you want to work at a fast food joint your whole life, learn Japanese if you want to have jobs related to technology/etc, aka money

Sadly, they're (young) adults. When I hear shit like "jpn is teh best language EVAH!!!1!!!11" from people who don't even speak the fucking language...Shouldn't you speak all the languages that have ever been spoken before spouting shit like that?
And the grammar/vocabulary mistakes they make with what little jpn they've picked up from the anime they watch...Don't get me wrong, jpn animation is a good means to learn Japanese, BUT it won't work for those weeaboos. Nothing can really work for them. (btw, I won't take weeaboos as students, no amount of money is worth it)
