I've been studying Japanese for around two years now and I've risen to a certain level of proficiency. The thing that bothers me the most is when people say things in Japanese because that think it makes them look cool. It doesn't. It makes you look like and ignorant jackass when you mispronounce and misuse words. You have to start somewhere, but don't go thinking that anyone cares that you know what "kawaii" or "sugoi" means.
