Would Norwegian be an easy language to learn.
Approximately how long would it take, studying around 5-10 hours a day?
Anyone else know it?

Well, I have heard that Norwegian is hard to learn. If you are from Germany it would be easier. But I dont think it would be too hard if you study 5-10 hours. Find somone to talk to on MSN who also is norwegian who could help you.
Norway FTW :3

It's not hard. Well, I guess it depends. If you're natively speaking english, it is easy, with a few grammatical nuances to pick up. But you learn to understand what angle to think from and it gets infinitely easier. Actually, the one thing I found difficult was the dialects, nynorsk/bokmål. Because I was exposed to more obscure dialects before the others. And they vary like fuck. But hey, you get over that too.

Oh. Also if you learn norwegian you can understand danish and spoken swedish with little help... obviously if you're fluent and shit you understand. But you also can identify bits of icelandic.

Lykke til!

Norwegian, Danish and Swedish are all pretty easy languages for native English speakers.

Knowing Norwegian fluently, I can tell you that it's piss easy.

Really, the grammar is fucking simple, the pronunciation and orthography are fairly regular (FAR more regular than, say, in English), and it's a Germanic language, so quite a few words are at least semi-recognisable for English speakers. The biggest problem I can think of would probably be the shitload of allophones for all the vowels, and some issues with a few consonants.

Text above translated for comparison:

Siden jeg kan norsk flytende, kan jeg trygt si at det er dritlett.

Seriøst, grammatikken er jævlig simpel, uttalen og ortografien er ganske regelmessige (MYE mer regelmessige enn, for eksempel, engelsk), og det er et germansk språk, så en god del ord er i hvert fall halvveis gjennkjennelige for engelsktalende. Det største problemet jeg kan tenke meg er nok mengden med vokalallofoner, og noe trøbbel med noen konsonanter.

Also, if you know German, Norwegian is practically just a simplified version.

Also, if you learn one Scandinavian language you pretty much get the other two as a bonus.
