So, language people. At least some of you learn your languages in a classroom environment. In several of my classes I've had to choose a "name" from the language to use when I'm in that class. Romance languages is easy, I just use the same root. My name is Viv, in Spanish my name is Viviana Alvarez, in French my name is Viviane, at my old school my name in spanish was Mario. I'm starting a new class now, Japanese. My normal strategy of using the same root is now impossible. My Japanese class is an independent study, but I'll feel ripped off if I go through Japanese 1 without getting a new name. So ITT we post our names in other languages, and we help other people figure out what their name is. The root of Viviana is something involving life, I think. It sounds kinda like vida, vie, vivir, vivacious, what have you. What's the Japanese equivalent? And if there's not a Japanese equivalent, then how should I choose my name?
