Germans and fun

This is a question to any Germans that may be reading this, or anyone else who has an answer.

What is it with Germans and the English word "fun"? I don't get it. On any German FPS server you will see "wir suchen fun members" or "wilkommen zu unserem fun server". In any RTS game you will see "3v3 FUN" created by Fritz or Heinrich. It never fails: whenever you spot this adjective you know there are Germans about. I have never seen anyone else use it.

Is there no German word for fun? Why is fun so important to Germans in the first place?

Germans like to lulz.

"Fun" is used by German youths because the German word for "fun" has become tainted due the older generations having a rather controversal idea of what exactly constitutes "fun".
