British Mannerisms

I understand this isn't quite a question of language but, to all of you british folks here: what does thrusting 2 fingers upwards (like a backhanded peace sign) mean? I can tell from context it's used as an insult.

"Fuck you".

It means "don't use the term British, as it is meaningless, faggot"
