Learning Japanese..

I was wondering, is there anyone who knows a good book on the japanese language? asking, because I was planning to go there after I graduate from high school. NO, I'm not a weeaboo, it's just a place I've been wanting to go to.

I tried to learn Japanese from books alone about a year ago. It's fun when you're motivated. But you have be dedicated to learn a second language (for me it's Spanish and possibly Russian and Japanese). Try to get involved at a language center as early as possible, because it takes a lot of practice to be fluent in any language

Anything by ALC (http://alc.co.jp). However, since you're a beginner, I don't know what to suggest to you. There are few good beginner books, and most of them will have to be imported.

But hey, anyone tried Heisig's Remembering the Kanji? I think the first volume is pretty good to familiarize with the kanji, but would not recommend the second. Kanjiwise, I plan to go with Kanji in Context, by The Japan Times. Also by them, there's GENKI, an interesting series of begginer text and cookbooks.
