Learning Russian

So i have been putting off taking a language, but now i gotta pick one. I have allways been kinda interested in Russian, how hard is it to learn?

Comparing to Japanese, Russian is far easier to read and write, but you'll face the same problems with non-latin characters etc. Basic grammer is very simple, but in order to advance you'll have to memorize a lot of exceptions from basic rules - it's a real pain in the ass.
