learning japanese reasons

I'm about to apply for a student visa to study japanese in japan... but I'm scared of this question: "What are your main reasons for studying Japanese"
could someone please please help me???

and before you say something bad about me, no, it's not so I can watch anime or read manga, my native language is not english, it's spanish, so I need a little help making it look apropiate, anything would really help thanks!

But to be literate, you have to know about 800 or so kanji, at least to read the newspaper...I know guys in the seventh level of Japanese at the (thats three and a half years of study) college I go to who know that many, but still....
