im in japan now, i have to write this fast because imn in a hurry, i just exchanged 300$ in japan and had to pay 90$ exchange rate. expensive as hell, does anyone know the best (cheaper) way to exchange money in japan. zomg

You got screwed up, just use your visa card and withdraw money from ATM it will be way cheaper than changing US dollars into Yens. International ATM are available in every post office around Japan.

Truth. My bank charged me $5 for foreign transactions, but that's WAY cheaper than $90 freaking dollars. Horrible!

I remember using traveller's checks when I went and I didn't have to pay extra for changing it to yen. At least that's how I remember it.

Yes you still have this option but he's already in Japan so it's a little late now. And I don't think you can use traveller's checks everywhere. Japan is pretty retarded when it comes to money they all carry and use cash.
