Why doesn't moot support donations?

Obviously there's something going on. A lot of people want to help the site financially, but moot isn't letting them. Many people have asked if they can donate anonymously (i.e. no special favors) and on /q/ a few folks have called moot a jerk for not letting them donate.

What do you think? Is it an advertising/contract/canv.as/Zionist thing?
