You know, companies who stay on top of things technology-wise, that by creating bigger and bigger means of data storage, you are encouraging software piracy.
I can get 500GB of stable, shiny storage for 50 British pounds. And I do, I get that shit because damn, that's some cheap space.
And I revel in the novelty. I spend a while backing up all of my files onto it, I'll maybe plug it into my flat screen and watch these few movies I've acquired digitally over the course of time. Besides, the quality's not bad nowadays, considering it's free.
But then you're left with an insane amount of space on your lovely new external hard drive. So you torrent some more.
You torrent for weeks but the spare GB's are having none of it, you don't think you can find enough time to watch all of the shit you set off downloading before you go to sleep. What do you pay for your internet for? To let your potential available bandwidth slip away as you rest? Might as well use it, you'll always enjoy the treat in the morning.
You start believing, at this point, that the hard drive is now there TO BE F1LLED and you must spend as much of your spare time that's actually spare trying to accomplish this.
It is then that you realise you have a lot of information that is not backed up.
And you go out and buy another hard drive.
