Will captcha ever, ever go away?

Well?

I asked a similar question like this to Mr VacBob who does programming work on the site and this is what he had to say on the issue.

If you have a Gold account you don't have to fill in captchas.

I wish there really was a gold/premium account.  I'm so sick of captcha, it makes me go mad half the time I try to fill it out.  I would actually pay to have to avoid it.  Why does the idiot running this site not take advantage of this yet, no one would even know who is and isn't a paying member.  You just login and no more captcha.  I seriously don't understand how people can post 5 or 10 pics in image threads and fill out captcha each time.  It's the number one reason for lost contributions.
