New Imageboard Software in Development

Name: Anonymous 2009-07-16 19:05

Hey guys,

A friend of mine and I are developing a new php/mysql based imageboard software and we'd really like your brutally honest opinions about it.

Here is the home of the system (under construction!):

our demo site for rakuhana:

We're designing it so almost any person can just download, install, run and manage it very easily. It's not really meant to be a replacement for wakaba, etc.. It's just a very easy script with a couple of useful features (installable themes, remote spam list updating, etc..). Most people who want to run imageboards aren't really that proficient at php, perl, or heck even css at that. So we thought it would be nice if somebody made a system anyone can use (kinda like phpbb, wordpress, etc..).

Here's a preview of the admin panel we have so far:

If you have questions/comments/concerns, just ask smile.gif

-Thanks

well that's problem #1. i certainly hope security is a major priority or you're just going to be helping some kids who don't know any better get their shit wrecked. is your sql parametrized? have you made sure to check the MIMEtype on uploaded files?

more importantly there is no such thing as running an imageboard easily. running a decent imageboard requires some time-investment on the part of the owner. most boards get filled up with crawler spam and die because they're unmoderated and nobody deletes it. you can't just set up a site and put it on the overchan.
