Banned IP ranges

Nearly all of the IP addresses that get assigned to my house are included in the group that 4chan banned for abuse. I don't use any of the ISPs listed, nor do I live anywhere close to the countries where these ISPs are based. This means the banned list must be pretty large, because nuking IP ranges from orbit is the only way to be sure.
What was this abuse that bothered the site so much that banning an entire chunk of the internet seemed like a good idea?

I'll wager that this issue doesn't come up so much that anyone bothers to keep the list of ranges updated.  It wouldn't be surprising if a few others were added to the list since the FAQ was last updated.

What does it matter what kind of abuse it was?

Most likely a combination of illegal content (i.e CP) and spam.

I'd recoomend going on 4chan IRC to ask a mod.
